Para-Jumbles (Sentence Rearrangement)
Para-Jumbles are a core VA question type where 4–5 jumbled sentences need to be arranged into a coherent paragraph. CAT always includes para-jumbles.
Frequency (CAT 2017–2023):
- CAT 2017–2018: 4 questions per slot
- CAT 2019: 2 questions per paper (out of 10 VA questions)
- CAT 2020: 2–3 questions
- CAT 2021: About 3 questions (part of 8 VA Q)
- CAT 2022: 3 questions
- CAT 2023: 2–3 per slot (e.g., Slot 2 had at least Q21, possibly Q22)
Key Insights:
- Expect 2–3 para-jumble questions each year.
- Considered moderate to difficult, requiring careful attention to sentence flow and cohesion.
- Since 2015, CAT’s para-jumbles are TITA (no options), making them trickier.
