17 Permutations and Combinations PYQ (Solutions)
Master Permutations and Combinations for CAT 2026 with practice questions and detailed explanations
P&C (Permutations & Combinations) along with Probability form the “Combinatorics” topics. These are considered part of modern math in CAT.
- Historically, CAT includes few of these questions:
- CAT 2017 had 1 question on permutation-combination in slot 1 (and none in slot 2, making it very low weight overall).
- From 2018 to 2021, P&C + Probability together accounted for only about 1 question per slot.
- For example, CAT 2020 slot 1 had 2 such questions (one P&C, one probability) but other slots had 1 or 0.
- In CAT 2023, combinatorics topics remained low priority (e.g., slot 1 had 0 P&C, slot 2 had 1).
Overall, 0–2 questions from P&C in a year is typical (often just 1 or none in each paper). They are not heavily emphasized in recent CAT official exams.
