CAT Topic Wise PYQs

A comprehensive collection of previous year CAT questions from Quant, DILR, and VARC, organized topic-wise and section-wise to help you practice smarter and understand the real exam pattern.

CAT Quant PYQs — Your Questions, Answered

What the Quant section covers, how it's marked, and how to get the most out of topic-wise past papers.

CAT does not publish an official syllabus, but the questions consistently fall into five families: Arithmetic (percentages, ratio, averages, time-speed-distance, time and work, profit and loss), Algebra (linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, functions, logarithms), Geometry and Mensuration, Number System, and Modern Maths (permutation and combination, probability, progressions, set theory). Arithmetic and Algebra between them account for the majority of questions in recent papers.

Yes. Every question here is taken from an actual CAT paper between 2017 and 2025 and has been verified against the official paper before being published. Questions without a written solution are not shown.

Multiple-choice questions carry +3 for a correct answer and -1 for an incorrect one. Non-MCQ questions, where you type the answer directly (often called TITA), carry +3 for a correct answer and no penalty for a wrong one — which is why it is usually worth attempting every non-MCQ you can reach.

CAT runs for 120 minutes in total, split into three sections of 40 minutes each. You cannot move between sections — once the 40 minutes on Quant are gone, you cannot return to it.

Solve a topic in a single sitting across multiple years rather than shuffling topics, then read the solution to every question you attempted — including the ones you got right, since a correct answer reached the slow way still costs you marks in the exam. Once a topic feels stable, move to full past papers under timed conditions.
