Time, Speed and Distance is the widest topic in CAT arithmetic, relative speed, trains, boats and streams, circular tracks, races, and the escalator and clock variants all sit under it, and each has its own way of going wrong. It is also the topic where drawing the situation before writing an equation makes the largest difference. A large bank matters here because the variants are genuinely distinct: being fluent in relative speed does not make you fluent in circular tracks.

What CAT asks in Time, Speed and Distance, the mistakes that cost the most marks, and how to practise it.
Basic speed-distance-time relationships, average speed, relative speed for objects moving in the same and opposite directions, trains crossing platforms and each other, boats and streams, circular track meetings, races and head starts, and the clock and escalator problems that reuse the same relative-speed idea.
Fix a reference frame before writing anything: decide whose position you are measuring from, then every other speed becomes a difference or a sum. Most errors in this topic come from mixing frames halfway through rather than from arithmetic.
It is the same relative-speed idea with the stream as the moving frame, so it does not need separate theory, but it does need separate practice, because the phrasing conventions (upstream, downstream, still water) are where candidates lose time rather than the concept.
