The quantitative and verbal foundations transfer almost entirely. Arithmetic fluency, algebra, reading comprehension and the discipline of judging whether a question is worth attempting are general capabilities rather than exam specific ones, and a candidate who has built them for one exam has built them for the other.

What does not transfer is anything downstream of the specific paper: its marking rules, its section structure, its timing, and any question types that have no CAT equivalent. Those need deliberate attention, and the mistake is assuming they will be absorbed by general preparation.
