The productive order is by how much each condition constrains. Conditions naming a specific person and a specific value come first, because they are free entries that go straight into the structure. Conditions giving a total or a count come next, since they bound a whole row or column. Negative conditions follow, because they eliminate possibilities without needing anything resolved first.
Relative conditions come last. More than, fewer than, adjacent to and immediately before only become usable once other cells are fixed, and attempting them early is how aspirants end up staring at a structure with nothing to write in it.
Anything mentioning at least or at most is worth parking in the margin rather than the grid until a count is known. Those conditions tend to resolve everything at once, late, and trying to use them early produces the sensation that the set is impossible.
Rebuilding the Habit Over Two Weeks
Procedural fixes land fast, and two weeks of deliberate work is usually enough to see the change in a mock.
- Days 1 to 4: sets with no timer, but with the rule that you read everything before writing. You are isolating one habit.
- Days 5 to 8: add a representation decision, written down, before you build anything.
